WJ can provide contracted RI support through a named individual formally appointed by the children’s home provider. The focus is clear oversight, practical support and challenge for the registered manager, and keeping children’s safety and progress central.
RI support can help providers to…
- Give the registered manager consistent, constructive support and challenge
- Keep safeguarding, children’s experiences and outcomes visible in governance
- Review concerns, incidents, complaints and placement endings and make sure learning is acted on
- Maintain clear oversight of quality, risks, compliance and improvement actions
- Provide Ofsted with a clear, coordinated point of contact for the provider
A practical oversight arrangement
Quality and safeguarding oversight
Planned review of quality information, safeguarding concerns, feedback, incidents and children’s progress, with clear escalation and follow-up.
Governance and improvement
Support to maintain a clear view of actions, owners, evidence and progress, including input to the provider’s quality-of-care review.
Ofsted liaison
A reliable contact for Ofsted discussions, with clear records of decisions, actions and how concerns are being addressed.
A named role, with clear responsibilities.
The provider formally appoints the individual as its Responsible Individual. Ofsted assesses the individual’s suitability in relation to the service. The RI role supports and supervises management; it does not replace the registered manager or the independent person who visits under Regulation 44.
